Meili, the daughter of this family, was determined to get some family photos. She did her due diligence to find the perfect photographer and eventually found me through Instagram. We started chatting and we landed on the Bellevue Botanical Garden for photos.
The Gardens
I proposed the timing of the photos for golden hour, the best hour of the day. Golden hour means the last 90 minutes before the sun sets. The lighting is PERFECT for capturing great photos.
The botanical gardens in Bellevue, WA is set among 53 acres of cultivated gardens, woodlands and wetlands. You can imagine the beauty of this place and the spaces visitors are able to explore and we were blessed with a perfect day.
Meli’s family eagerly embraced the idea of coming together and doing this shoot. We not only got plenty of family photos taken, but individual ones and sibling photos with Meli and her brother dressed in their graduation outfits for their chosen schools. The changing tent I take with me to these shoots, based on client request, made all the outfit changes a breeze.
Photos Are Memories
I wish more young people were as invested in their family the way Meili was. She cherished those family bonds. There is a huge importance of not just making memories with those she loved but capturing them in a more permanent way through photos. As the adage goes: “A picture is worth a thousand words”.
