The Perfect Timing
Welcoming a new life into the world is a momentous occasion, filled with joy, anticipation, and of course, an undeniable glow. Maternity photos allow moms-to-be to freeze this beautiful moment in time, capturing their radiance and the love they feel for their unborn child. But when is the perfect time to schedule a maternity photoshoot?
Timing is key when it comes to maternity photos. The main thing is you want to highlight that radiant glow while you are still comfortable. Generally, the best time for a maternity session is between 28 to 34 weeks, when your baby bump is beautifully round. During this stage, your belly is pronounced. But you may not yet have reached the uncomfortable phase of late pregnancy.

Occasionally, I will do photo sessions for family. My husband has a large family and this time it was my sister-in-law Uyen who reached out. She asked for a family session before the arrival of their third baby. We decided on Howarth Park in Everett, WA. This beach park has something for everyone from picnic areas, children’s play area, a dog park and mini hikes. The children were enamored with the beach area. They were playing in the rocks and dipping their toes in the water.
The Colors of The Ocean
Uyen was especially interested in getting some fun family photos by the ocean. Donning a pale blue maternity dress which not only subtly matched the color of the water but complimented her toddler daughter’s blue rainbow dress as well was a darling idea. The boys garbed themselves in white shirts, colored shorts and encased their feet in comfy flip flops, the perfect beach vibe. The children were all smiles and got into the spirit of things, hugging Mom’s tummy when told and following whatever directions I gave them. We got so many natural shots of all of them.
